I was planning to mature both meat and cheese within my fridge. However, as their temperature requirements differ significantly and the original thermostat in my Beko has a significant tolerance, I decided to upgrade my fridge with an electric temperature controller. Fixing a 30 yr old aquarium lamp – electronics intro
We have a somewhat neglected aquarium at our home. I’ve got it from my childhood home, making it about 30 years old and almost all parts are original. Well the light went out. and I thought it was the neon tube that finally gave way but upon opening I realized that I have to start to look into replacing old electronics.

Playing around with Google AdSense
It happened again, I got carried away and now I realized I’ve paid a significant amount of money to set up this blog. A cloud server, a domain, graphic design and especially the amount of treats I’ve had to consume while setting this up. So I decided to try some small scale advertising on the blog.
So I’m setting up the Google AdSense. If you see strange ads in strange positions, it’s probably just temporary. I’ll keep the ads to minimum and focus on non intrusive ads.
So If you’re new to the blog, don’t leave me just yet, even if you see a huge amount of ads in the wrong places. I’ll write a post about some of the things going on behind the hood of this site.
Crowdsourced graphic design
The title image for this blog is a sketch done by Leonardo DaVinci in 1510. I think it represents the generalist approach he had during the renaissance period. But I wanted the image to convey a more modern feeling. So I crowdsourced graphic design.
I wanted this blog to be original in as many aspects as possible. I thought, that it would more than suitable that I have an unique header image for my blog.
So please vote your favourite of the ones I’ve chosen at DesignCrowd.com
Edit: The voting is closed, and I’ve chosen the ones to continue with.
Traditional Kintsugi on a friend’s coffee cup
Luck is to have friends who provide you with hobby materials. I received an Iittala Ego coffe cup that was accidentally broken. I promised to give a try to see how the traditional kintsugi approach would work and here is the process and results.

Dry-aging beef, Part 3
Now that I’ve setup my dry-aging refrigerator, it was time to start dry-aging beef once more. This is a project. And as every good project needs a plan, here is my outline of my current plan and the first documentations.
Organizational pulse interference
Organizational well being for engineers. Measuring the pulse of an organization and combining psychology, physics and leadership to get some information out of it. I sometimes find these similarities between various disciplines and even though they may be obvious to people, I enjoy the thought game of trying to explain anomalies using another disciplines terminology.
So here we are, measuring the pulse of an organization and deciding on actions through pulse interference.
Iron in my mind
What is the history of iron? How did we start turning rocks into tools, iron from ore? I’ve been interested in the history of technology for quite some time and my interest always leads to trying out stuff myself. So I’ve been on a road to make a simple iron tool from scratch for a while now and here is a rather extensive take on how to smelt your own iron.
My sourdough bread timeline
When I started baking sourdough bread, I had some issues with the timing of various steps of fermentation and proofing. In the end, after reading how other people time their bakes, I created this sourdough bread timeline, that has proven to be a killer combo of easiness and perfect timing for fresh bread for the Sunday morning breakfast.
The timeline is adapted from Chad Robertson’s Tartine Bread

Sourdough starter issues
I kept a small hiatus from baking bread and even though I had stored my sourdough starter in two different methods, I still can’t get the leavening effect that I’m used to. So I set out on a look into the possible issues and trials to remedy it.
